EV might be better for now but never forget the total footprint of the EV. Precious minerals and metals, the electricity to charge, recycling after the car is “done”, etc. And what about the fact that there will be a huge powershortages or even outages when everyone comes home and plugs in their car? Best step I think is to go hybrid with smaller engines (like the European cars are doing currently) and not the big engines like they have in the US.

Absolutely! Walk/bike/bus/train all have to happen before switching to EVs... and those can ideally start as electric bikes, electric two-wheelers, small cars, etc.
