@emilgoode I made, with help from our instructor, the pair on the left, with nylon webbing.
I bought the pair on the right 30 years or so ago at a Canadian Tire store, their webbing is rawhide. They need varnishing every few years, otherwise the hide will disintegrate. The rubber flap is the best binding ever: cut it from a rubber piece picked up on the highway, left behind when a truck blew a tire. Easy to get out of, should you break through ice.
