Sometimes you just want to take a nice walk without carrying all the equipment and then you inevitably come to a scene like this and wonder why you don't always carry the telephoto lens with you. But it was a very nice encounter nevertheless and the woodpecker didn't care about me being just a few meters away at all, just leisurely flying from tree to tree picking evening snacks from the bark. #nature #naturephotography #birds #wildlife #wildlifephotography

Yay :) They are fun to watch. Sometimes I manage to go right up to the tree they are picking at and put my ear to the trunk to hear the sound really up close.
