It is similar in the sense that both AG and the Coop Group in England are member-owned wholesalers of foods. The difference, as I understand it, is that the stores that were supplied by the Coop Group are mostly member-owned co-ops themselves, or directly owned by the Coop Group in areas where no local coop stores exist.
