Exploring Jacksonville • 818 North Clay Street • Downtown

Once the location of some very interesting art & graffiti, this empty building has been repainted 🫤

It's former glory 👇

I just can’t. 😫

Aesthetically- like, there’s an improvement here? I mean I really love how they squeezed out their rollers right above the door. So pleasing, so metropolitan.

Trying to reason property-owner logic makes me mildly psychotic.. it’s good I live in the sticks, lol

I know! There's many partial and older mural maps of this city online. None of them are current and sadly, many gems like this have been painted over fir reasons I'll never understand. 🥴

I can see both sides of the coin-

Safe to say if I just opened a new deli, and dropped a $75,000 loan to repaint and remodel, I might not be fond of taggers.

But that’s not what this is. It’s a social/political statement.

I don’t fault the property owner for wanting clean walls. I fault them for making an even greater neighborhood eye-sore than the tags themselves
