This is the upper section of the 2,450 metre long #Spießbergbahn in #Thuringia, Germany's only remaining natural ice track still in use. Inaugurated in 1910, it once hosted numerous national bobsleigh and #luge competitions. In fact, it's considered the birthplace of German bobsleighing! Since 1983, only the lower 1,450 metres have been maintained for competitions and training, while the upper section you see here has fallen into disrepair. The photo shows the first of the track's original 18 curves.
