This is the cable car barn/powerhouse... where just four 510 horsepower motors and gears pull miles of heavy cables underneath city streets, yanking 40 cable cars up and down the hills of San Francisco. I love this place. The machinery is fascinating, the cables sing, and the smell of machine oil is intoxicating. #photography
