Maron found a snake during our walk to the local park. I thought she'd be more proactive about biting it and flinging it around but she was wise and cautious. I don't think it was a poisonous Mamushi snake, the poisonous snake have wider jaws right? It was probably a relatively harmless AoDaisho Japanese Rat snake, beloved of Rice farmer, unloved by chcken and egg raisers... I wasn't sure enough either way to try and grab it (AoDaisho) of kill it (Mamushi poisonous snake around where lots of kids come to play??) The last time Maron encountered a snake she spapped it up and flung her head around with such force the snake sailed up into the air and came down 3 or 4 meters away into a rice field. Mio was holder Maron's lead while I ran up the steep cement path to get photos of the JurRenJi Persimmon 十連柿 tree when a snake appeared and had Mio yelling and jumping around like something had it's teeth in her already. By the time I gave up on photos and walked down to see what was going on Maron had been grabbing and releasing so fast I only figured out it was a snake as it sailed through the air. Maron was looking around for it, probably hoping to eat it.. Maybe it was smaller than this snake, or she is more cautious and exploratory when no one is screaming in fear.. I hear the Mamushi snakes are good to barbeque with and eat with regular BBQ (in Japan) sauce... It seems like too much trouble to jam them alive into an big Shochu Spirits bottle and just give them fresh water for a few weeks to empty out their digestive systems (I guess) then drown them on more spirits. Peope believe the cock-roach-scented (I've heard) Mambushi snake booze is medicinal... You can buy snake booze in Okinawa. I was tempted to take a bottle to Mexico but it's hundreds of dollars: a bit dear for a joke... Maybe one day.. #MaronTheShiba #蛇 #柴犬 #稗田公園 #青大将 #ShibaDog

Looks like both Maron and the snake are being cautious!
