#FotoVorschlag Gut abgeschnitten » Well cut off This one was so well cut off that even the stump is happy. 🙂 On a related note, for those of you who know it, let's talk about The Giving Tree. Uplifting book about being generous or the most depressing children's book ever written about a selfish little shit? #tree #treeStump #pareidolia #ISeeFaces #nature #Natur #NaturePhotography #NatureLovers #forest #forestFloor #ISeeFacesEverywhere #hiddenFaces #foundFaces #facesInThings

@Jess.Stetson Great pareidolia catch! Re: “The Giving Tree,” I’m in the latter camp. It’s a celebration of resource extraction, glorifying nature’s “generosity” without addressing the need to TAKE CARE OF IT so that it doesn’t become a stump. Exactly the wrong lesson for kids to learn. They should all read “The Lorax” instead. 😡

THANK YOU! It's the WORST! 😂 I remember feeling sick to my stomach reading this as a kid. I couldn't understand why everyone didn't see that the kid was just exploiting this tree and leaving it for dead. I have no proof but I love Shel Silverstein and I genuinely believe that this was a subversive children's book. I don't think it was meant to be "happy" at all. It's depressing as hell.

@Jess.Stetson @bluejay I always thought it was a not-so-subtle metaphor about parenting
