Sharing 1/3 Visiting Abbey Road Studios, we couldn't help but noticing some witty Germans had made their mark. "RuhrgeBeatles" was stencilled here and there. Independent of nationality, people were quietly milling around and on the iconic crossing. Some families came dolled up in identical clothing. Well. @AnnMyhre The Ruhr area is a region deep in western Germany, shaped by coal, mines, and steel. The area has since transformed and is now primarily a service-based economy. I lived there for 19 years. In German, "Gebiet" sounds like "Beat." And people from a "Gebiet" are then called Beatles.
