Creatonotos gangis is also known as the "Baphomet moth" or "Australian horror moth" due to the frightening tentacle-like protrusions in males. These are actually coremata, scent glands used to release pheromones.Baphomet months are native to Southeast Asia and Australia. While harmless to humans, their caterpillars are known to munch on crops and are considered pests.
