"Weather Abstract" Rockaway Twp NJ USA, 20250821, Screenshot. My computer [HP - Hewlett-Packard] was having one of its more dramatic nervous breakdowns. Normally it waits until just before I do an important save and then simply blinks off. But noooo-this was one of those slow, agonizing crashes where different functions drop by the wayside: the mouse flips over and plays dead, the lights flicker, the keyboard sits in a dark, damp corner gently weeping, and, once in a great while, it actually recovers but complains of a migraine. This was a Grand Mal, complete with hallucinations. What you're seeing here is usually a view of global air currents seen at a preselected altitude-here 850 hPa [ https://earth.nullschool.net/ ]. Apparently the graphics engine had gotten a hold of some bad drugs and was freaking out. However, in the midst of the pyrotechnics I was able to get a screenshot. My other weather program is Windy.com [ https://www.windy.com/ ]. Taken together, they tell me all I need to know as to whether or not I should take an umbrella. -Phil

This is what it looks like right now [2025-12-08 175036 EST]. It's tracking winds at a barometric [850 hPa] height of about 1,000 ft. If you load the program, you can look at any place on the whole Earth. -Phil
