"Breaker Boys" USA. This is NOT my photo! In my the Aug 12, 2025 "Baker Opera House" photo, the caption I had written included the following. "And last, but not least, lots of kids who worked above ground at sorting the ore from the dross, and what was probably the hardest job of all - Breaker Boys - making big chunks of ore into little chunks." Here they could be picking through coal or iron ore, but I suspect this photo was cleaning coal. Somewhere I have an old photo posed outside of a building of a large group of boys - each with their own sledgehammer! They were the "real" Breaker Boys. -Phil
