You may not share my opinion, but I think #cruise #ships are a nightmare. They are a disaster for the #sea and for our environment, yet people who continue to go on cruises just don't seem to give a damn. The Meyer shipyard (#MeyerWerft) in Papenburg is where some of these cruise ships are built. On my bike ride to #Papenburg, I had the opportunity to ‘admire’ the Disney Destiny. To enable this and other ships to reach the #NorthSea, the depth of the River #Ems was altered. Whereas the Ems used to be 1.5 metres deep, it is now 9 metres deep (!). These interventions in nature, just so that some people can have ‘fun’, disgust me and all of us will have to pay for them eventually. So this is my (neither pretty nor light) contribution to today's #MeerMittwoch.

@Bella I was just in Norway the other week and in Bergen there was one of the biggest cruise ships I've ever seen moored there, from up on the mountainside by the city you could see this long stream of dark grey smoke coming from it, wafting over the town.
So many Norwegians hate them.
I made a passing comment while showing colleagues some pics and one of them said "I think my parents were on that boat!!... No, they need to hear it!" 😅⛴️
