xf9

A bright, tilted, disc in a sea of stars. It appears brownish/yellow in the center and blue in its outer rims. It has dark spiral arms which looks like veins and are swirling around the center.

xf9 An all-time favorite: the andromeda galaxy.

This is our closest galactic neighbor and, if our course calculations are correct, our galaxies will collide with it. It's so large and bright, it can be seen with the naked eye under sufficiently dark skies just not in this detail. It will more likely appear as a bright smudge in the sky.

This is also an #astrophotography from last year.
