The Blue Peacock was a nuclear landmine. Built by the British in the 1950s, it was designed to be buried along the German-Soviet border in case the Soviets invaded Europe. It would also contain live chickens to keep it warm. When the project was declassified on April 1st, 2004, the public thought it was an April Fools joke.
