When you blend hard funk rock and psychedelic soul with Jimi Hendrix embellishments, you get 'Maggot Brain' β the last album with the original lineup. Whatever substances George Clinton and the gang indulged in during the making of 'Maggot Brain', they certainly helped capture lightning in a bottle with this seminal album. Funky, loud, dark, spacey, and trance-inducing; it is definitely an album that should be experienced from start to finish in one sitting for the best listening experience. Highlights include the epic title track, "Wars Of Armageddon", "Super Stupid", "Hit And Quit It", "You And Your Folks, Me And My Folks", and "Can You Get To That". It is quite likely that if Jimi Hendrix were still alive, he would have composed something similar to 'Maggot Brain' at some point in the early '70s. His "fingerprints" are all over this album, thanks to Eddie Hazel. And oh man, Hazel's guitar solos on the title track are spellbinding!
