paulknightlyThis is an image that is entirely the product of being in the right place at the right time. I was driving between Northwest Arkansas and Kansas City in May 2018 when I saw a small thunderstorm form to the west of me in southern Missouri. I pulled off the highway and onto a nearby dirt road and setup my camera and tripod, looking to try my luck at capturing a lightning bolt or two. No sooner did I have my camera setup and began taking a few test shots, a large cloud-to-ground bolt landed on the horizon with the shutter open. I still can’t believe my luck in having the bolt framed perfectly by the converging power lines and vanishing point of the dirt road on the horizon.
