I saw "Cats of the Louvre" mentioned on Mangagram a few times and the concept of cats living in the museum, the Louvre. I pretty much immediately ordered a copy of the manga upon reading the premise.
For the uninitiated - the premise is that the Louvre itself is part of a historic palace and cats had lived there during its days as a palace. The ancestors of those cats remained in the building and the grounds crew have kept them safe since. The story follows some folks who work on the grounds crew as well as the cats, who are occasionally anthropomorphized as they interact with each other.
A key fact you learn early on is that the main cat shown on the cover, has a power to interact with the paintings and can even leap into paintings themselves. This cat, who appears like a kitty despite its age, can "hear" the paintings.
As the story progresses, we learn that one of the grounds crew members' sisters could also claim to hear the paintings and one day, disappeared.
The cats are afraid of being caught by unsafe folks, a new tour guide is trying to help the grounds crewmember figure out if / where his sister may be hiding within the paintings. It's a well crafted, unexpected story with the art of the Louvre on display throughout.
I definitely would recommend it if the concept above sounds remotely interesting to you.
