linksoepA couple of years ago I fell in love with ink on paper. I mostly drew semi-realistic portraits from reference pictures with a fineliner and lots of crosshatching. Over time I developed something like a style of my own, but I also felt the urge to work more loosely. So I changed my fineliner for a fountainpen and tried lots of different approaches to get something on paper. I also changed the subjects of my drawings. And then I discovered watercolors.
Today, for old times sake, I went back to my original semi-realistic style, but I wondered what watercolors would add to the picture. So here is a combination of rigid and loose, realistic and abstract.
