charlesrkissMore boring painting preparations stuff: The second attempt on the foam worked pretty well (B+), better than the first, which I had to chisel out and start from scratch.
There is a layer of glassine between the foam and the backside of the canvas.
The third time will be a charm, if there is a third time. The results are promising.
I like to paint on a firm ground, I dislike any surface movement as I apply pressure with the brush, or when taping.
I was going to tape on Sunday, but the tape was from 2021, and I didn't trust it. I ordered some new stuff and it is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, Tuesday — Chartpak, 1/32" wide (0.79 mm) by 646 inches, eight rolls were ordered. The packaging actually contains a timestamp, it is excellent tape. I will use about 360 feet ($80).
I have a table of measurements triple-checked, a tape machine, and lines laid out and ready to go.
