Magnificent capture with beautiful lighting, color, sharpness. Info: Members of the rail family, the South Island takahe is a flightless bird indigenous to New Zealand. Thought to be extinct, the species was re-discovered in 1948 and their numbers have been slowly growing ever since. There are now just over 400 takahe birds in New Zealand.
